Nowadays all we hear about is how we should recycle everything in order to save the earth from danger. Do we truly have to do this? Do you know that it takes roughly 1,000 years for a plastic shopping bag to completely decompose? That's quite a long time, and keep in mind that's just one plastic bag. Consider how many plastic bags you go through annually, not just shopping bags but bin liners too. You're talking about a lot of plastic bags when you multiply that figure by the number of people living in our country. We can choose to reuse it by recycling and stop it from sitting in a landfill breaking down for years. Lots of things are recycled today, for instance old worn tires are shredded down and utilized as tread for playgrounds and plastic shopping bagsplastic bags can be remade into clothing. Most items are prospects for reusing.
Fifteen years ago, the town of Lemoore, California instituted a very strict recycling program. If Lemoore residents did not adopt the recycling rules, they were fined. Many of the people decided to comply and the town benefited immensely from recycling. A playground and waterpark were built. Recycling also helped to fund basic municipal necessities, such as a police department, a fire station and funding for children attending pre-school. So, you can tell that recycling can produce money for other things as well as reduce the amount of scrap going to the landfill.
You may believe that you're merely one person in this big world, so you're not going to make a big impact by yourself, however imagine if everybody made a little effort towards recycling! We would not need such large landfills, which would save operating costs and keep the terrain. Bear in mind that money can be raised for impoverished communities from recycling and the environment will benefit too! Everyone profits.
Even if you don't care about the earth, try to think of others; not only humans but also animals. They are suffering because of issues in the environment including global warming. You can help to save the environment and leave a healthy planet for your children by doing some recycling.
Perhaps you don't realize how long it actually takes every last item you toss to break down You may remember that a plastic bag does not break down until about 1000 years later. Items like disposable diapers and milk bottles can take hundreds of years to totally decompose while glass and styrofoam may never entirely decompose. This can all be recycled, so why just toss them?
Apparently, there are several things we can't recycle today, but with the technology becoming even more advanced we might find new ways of recycling and new uses of various materials. Currently, there's definitely no reason we can't recycle plastics, metals, and glass. Recycling these items is reasonably convenient in many communities and is not costly, so it's a superb idea to help the earth. We could do a ton of good if each one of us decided to help.
